Tentative yearbook cover

This is the kind of thing that I have been working on. This is what I did today, what may end up as the yearbook cover. It is going to be incredibly satisfying to hold a printed yearbook in my hands, the beautiful product of an immense amount of work. Anyway, I was really happy with how this turned out, I really like it.

The fast continues, and many challenges along with it. Water and electricity seem to be fleeting commodities, hardly consistent. Having both water and electricity at the same time is always a real luxury. They seem to have begun rationing, but have not yet admitted it. Hopefully they will fess up soon and put out a schedule so that we can at least be prepared. I was more than ready, in fact I wanted with great conviction, to leave all of the amenities of the developed world behind. That was 5 months ago. I will definitely appreciate everything an unspeakable amount more upon returning to the first world. I have definitely satisfied my needs for living in discomfort.

I remember asking if you wanted to go camping with me Dad, but take nothing but a knife the clothes on our backs with us. I distinctly remember you saying that you don’t have the same desire for discomfort as me anymore. I am beginning to understand, very quickly.

We are very privileged to live in developed nations. The things we take for granted, electric stoves and ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, microwaves, vacuums, the list goes on. An interesting figure is that there is a total of 250,000 vehicals in all of Ethiopia for a population of 80 million. In Canada my best guess would be that we have 50 million vehicles for 37 million people.

An eye opening experience, that is for sure. So it turns out that I can go to Jerusalem which is very exciting. I am really looking forward to seeing Israel. Can’t wait to see that big red lettering AIR CANADA on the side of a jumbo jet.

Sunset approaches, time to find somewhere to eat!
